01 February, 2015

Contrary to the deadline of 31st of January, 2015 stipulated by INEC for the collection of Permanent Voters' Card (PVC), the date has been extended.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to Sunday, February 8, a statement by Kayode Idowu, the spokesperson for the INEC Chairman, has said.

“This supersedes the earlier deadline of Saturday, 31st January 2015, and is intended to give registered voters yet to collect their PVCs the opportunity to do so in readiness for the February 2015 general elections,” the statement said.

Mr. Idowu added, “INEC hereby calls on duly registered persons not to delay in going to collect their cards before the expiration of the new deadline.

“The Commission reaffirms its determination to make the 2015 elections free, fair, credible and peaceful; and urges all stakeholders, including voters, to spare no effort in working towards the same objective.”

As we can see, this does not have anything to do with the election date. This will not contribute to the postponement of the election date which some people are clamoring for.
