Finally, President Buhari Opens Up On Saraki's Trial [Video]

The long awaited speech on Saraki's trial from the President Muhammadu Buhari as expected by the populace has just been released while speaking with SaharaReporters in a recent released online video.

President Buhari spoke extensively on how he felt and why he could not do anything to forestall the trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Buhari, has opened up on the ongoing trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, stating that he may have lost confidence in the senator. The Nigerian leader, who spoke exclusively with Sahara Reporters in front of the United Nations building in the United States of America on Tuesday evening, made clarifications on the recovery of stolen funds and the state of the nation since he was sworn-in as the president.

He explained that it has taken the former administration about ten years to destroy the economy and since it is much easier to destroy than to build, Nigerians cannot expect his government to work out things within three-four months since they came to power. The former Military administrator also explained that although he has been in contact with Saraki, because there are many letters the National Assembly has to approve, he does not have the constitutional power to ask that the trial process be stopped, adding “I may be impeached for that act alone.” When he was asked if he still has confidence in the Senate President following the vote of confidence passed on Saraki by some of the senators on Tuesday, Buhari was quite straightforward with his response.
“That will depend on the outcome of the trial,” he said.

Nigerian president also spoke on a wide range of issues as they affect Nigeria’s economy and growth since he became the Commander-In-Chief. He said this during the nine-minute no-holds-barred session.

The fate of Saraki will be determined by the Code of Conduct Tribunal as the hearing has been adjourned by CCT Chairman, Umar Danladi till 21st, 22nd, 23rd of October, withdrawing Bench Warrant placed on him as he (Saraki) left court with smiles.
