Amid uncertainties, President Muhammadu Buhari has waded into the crisis over the ratification and release of the Nigerian Law School’s Bar Final Examination.
The results were originally billed for release on June 30, 2015 but was shifted till Friday July 24, 2015. However, authorities of the Law School last week Friday issued an “urgent notice” putting off the release of the results again.
The statement signed by E.O. Max-Uba, secretary to the council and Director of Administration of the school posted on its website read: “In view of the recent dissolution of the governing boards of parastatals and institutions of the federal Government by the president, the Bar Final Examination results earlier scheduled to be released on July 24, 2015, after the usual ratification by the Board of Studies of the Council of Legal Education has been postponed. The results shall now be published on Monday, August 3, 2015.”
However, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu told Saturday Tribune on Friday that he was aware that “about two hours ago, the Federal Ministry of Justice submitted some recommendations to the president on what could be done to resolve the issue.”
“You know out of all members of the school’s board of studies, only the chairman is appointed from outside, all others are ex-officio members. So, one of the options before the president is that he may decide to reappoint the chairman or appoint a new chairman. The other option is that the president may use his power to authorise the Ministry of Justice to approve and regularise the results. There is no cause for alarm or anxiety, something positive will happen very soon. The students should not entertain any fear or anxiety” he said.
God Bless You.
