Again!!! 20 Killed, 18 Others Injured As Suicide Bomber Hits Maiduguri Market

A suicide bomb has today Saturday 10th January 2015 hit poultry market in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The explosion is said to have killed at least 20 people and injured 18 others, witnesses and members of the Joint Task Force-JTF say.

The explosion which occurred at about 12:20pm in the afternoon comes less than six weeks after the same market was attacked by suicide bombers

A security source said the the explosive was carried into the market by a female suicide bomber believed not to be older than 10.

“Her body was completely shattered,” he said. “Because of the high calibre explosive she strapped to her body, the upper part of her body was flung apart and found about 500 metres away.”

Just before the explosion, another suspected suicide bomber is reported to have been apprehended in the area.

The attack sparked panic across the Borno state capital, with some residents scampering home for safety.

Borno state Police spokes person Gideon Jibrin, confirmed the explosion.
