According to Sahara Reporters, two military sources disclosed that only 8 out of the 26 female soldiers posted to the military base of the Multinational Joint Task Force, have been accounted for.

The report stated that the commander of the troops in the area, Colonel Kuti, has also been missing since the insurgents attacked the town on Saturday, January 3.

Not less than 50 people were killed when the insurgents attacked Baga for close to 18 hours, before eventually seizing the base.

Residents of the town disclosed that soldiers ran away from the terrorists after being overpowered during the attack.
