Inspiring! Olajumoke Orisaguna; From Bread Hawking On Lagos Street To A Model In A Jiffy

The story of Olajumoke, a common bread hawker turn to a model in a jiffy is worth sharing to inspire you that no condition is permanent and "fear no foe, if there is life, there is hope." If God can work it out for her, He can do more for you if you belong to Him (God). This is how it all began few days ago...

Renowned photographer, TY Bello was having a photo shoot when this pretty unknown Agege bread seller walked by. And yes, she walked by at the right time. She was photographed in the 'street shot'. Many people thought she was a model, but her appearance on the photo was a pure coincidence.

After the photo shoot, TY Bello checked up on the photos in her studio and she was surprised to see such a spectacular beauty. She was marveled but there was no way to trace the 'Agege' bread seller  #Chimo! she doesn't even know her name. She saw the star in her and launched a 'manhunt' to track her down. TY Bello was determined to find and help her kick start a modelling career. The photo viral on the internet.

Long story short, TY Bello narrated that after the manhunt, a mallam led her to the studio that morning.

Her name is Olajumoke Orisaguna, a 27-year old bread seller and mother of two young children.

TY Bello narrated:

Aso kan na ni mo wo kiri Lana‘.. Jumoke, the ‘model’ the Internet had been searching for, speaks almost no English. She explained how she had worn the exact outfit in our photograph the day before and someone showed her her own photograph on his phone from Facebook.

She narrated her journey to Lagos …A hair stylist from Ire in Osun state but not making enough profit… between her and her husband, a sliding door installer in same village, to care for their two young children.

At the invitation of a distant relative who knew someone operating a bakery, she relocated Lagos with her 14-month-old daughter to give bread hawking a try, leaving her husband and the older five-year-old behind. As I listened to her, I wandered if the beauty I had seen on my screen as I edited my image was a fluke ..well until she smiled .

I realized that I was wrong. I had in fact underestimated the beauty of this 27-year-old woman. As always, it was her eyes and of course her perfectly chiseled features that jumped out at you when she chuckled .This lady belonged in front of my camera. After a conversation with her husband telling him the story of our meeting, I decided I was going to photograph her that very afternoon. Within an hour, Bimpe Onakoya, one of Nigeria’s leading makeup artists, and Zubby, one of my favourite hairstylists, were at my studio to work magic.

They had both followed the story online and were more than happy to put in their very best for her. Olajumoke … with curly extensions out revealed a short natural Afro that beautifully hugged her face.@Bimpeonakoya also had decided to keep the make up minimal… She stepped in front of my camera and I almost couldn’t recognize her. She moved differently too. Jumoke looked straight into my lens emoting like she had done this all her life …. I knew we had found a star.

She is set to start an internship at Make-me hair salon and has been offered an additional internship with Sari signature, a famous Lebanese owned salon on the island.

Also, she has been offered a modelling contract and Payporte has also reached out to her to be model on their next billboard campaign.

And i heard somebody offered her a scholarship to further her education. #Chisos! All this in few days? isn't amazing?

Her case is similar to supermodel, Oluchi who was also a bread seller in Surulere before her talent and beauty was spotted.

Olajumoke's hard work met with God's favour and the doors of opportunity were opened.

The word of God says; "If you who are wicked know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more our Heavenly Father".
