The Nigerian Army said on Monday that troops operating around Duwabafi area had killed four suspected terrorists and seized  several items including arms and ammunition.

A statement issued by the acting Army Spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, said that the insurgents were killed following heavy exchange of gunfire with troops on patrol in the area.

“In continuation with the fight against Boko Haram terrorists, today troops of 243 Battalion, 5 Brigade Nigerian Army on fighting patrol, encountered some suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists at a Primary School in Duwabafi village, Borno.

“There was heavy exchange of gunfire in which the patrol killed 4 suspected Boko Haram terrorists, recovered two AK-47 rifles, four various sizes of solar energy panels, several types of drugs and five motorcycles,’’ it said.

The statement said the patrol team had since returned to base to re-strategise for more onslaughts on the remaining enclaves of Boko Haram insurgents in the area.

Many  insurgents have been killed while several items including arms and ammunition were recovered in different operations carried out by troops fighting insurgency in the North-East.
